4best for bigger surf  Sep 01, 2008 By M. Bloomberg "Michael"
I use a pair of v5 flex vipers for bodyboarding. Great fin for powering through the white water on a shore break. My only complaint is the foot pocket is not the most comfortable. I must wear the vipers with a bootie sock or I'll get blisters. The pocket is narrow so if you have a wide foot or you are going to use them in cold water with a 3+mm bootie go up a size. I wear an size 11 shoe and use the XL. I also feel the drainage is not the best with a bootie on because of the foot pocket's shape. I have been considering putting a second drainage hole on the top of the fin. I have many other brands of fins, but I wear the vipers most of the time despite the fact the others brands are much more comfortable, they just don't have the thrust to get me out to the line-up.

5Killer Fins  Jun 30, 2011 By hobes001
I have over 25 years of experience bodyboarding and bodysurfing. I swear by these fins. They have saved my butt many time during big surf at the Point in Newport Beach. I own a pair of the red dot style. If you are buying these fins, I suggest investing in tethers or fin leashes. Also, most fins will cause blisters and hot spots because of how the rubber rubs on the skin and all fins are a universal fit. To combat sore ankles or feet try fin socks or get some wetsuit material and cut it to fit the top of the foot to act as a pad and another piece to wrap around the ankle and glue them in w/ Barge Cement; you can find this stuff at a shoe repair store. I prefer this over a fin sock because of the hassel of dealing with the socks. Also, I did this with my red dots but used Shoe Goo instead; it last over 10 years but eventually started pealing off. The Barge cement has a more flex so it stretches when the rubber of the fin stretches.

Good luck

4Great Fins!  Jul 28, 2008 By Daniel E. Marthaler "mathdoctor"
These fins are just fantastic! As they say in their description, they are for the medium to advanced bodysurfer. I have found no problems, except for a small gap between the top of my left foot and the fin. Repeated swimming in them (after 1+ hours in the water) leaves the top of my foot a bit sore (I guess from the slapping). I will try to alleviate with a sock. Besides that, these are just awesome fins. When you swim, it feels like you are flying through the water. Fantastic!

5Viper V5 Flex Rocks  May 12, 2010 By W. Hicks
I recently purchased the Viper V5 Flex fins for my boogie board. I own Churchills but they make my feet cramp and are very awkward for me in the breakers. The V5s are made from a softer rubber and have a bit of a shorter blade. The different design ends up making it easier to kick and gain speed. The Vipers have neoprene padding in the top of the foot pocket so there is no real need for a fin sock. Plus, with the narrower Viper foot pocket they fit a woman's foot great. They fit almost as good as some shoes I own! I love the Vipers. I can now catch the small, crazy Gulf Coast waves with relative ease. While I might not be ready for Tcheaupoo the Vipers almost make me look like I know what I'm doing. I would highly recommend the V5s to anyone wanting an easier, smoother kick with a shorter blade. I can get thru breakers with the 5 inch blade so much easier than with the asymmetrical Churchills. No more losing my balance and getting toppled by a 3 foot white water closer. I think women will especially like these. I have also used the Vipers in the pool for lap swimming. They are really fantastic. I wear a woman's 9.5 shoe and the Medium Viper fit perfectly.
